Rare Hamilton “Livingstone” men’s Streamlined Moderne wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1933.

Housing the unique 19-jewel grade 401 movement, the “Livingstone” was part of a series of watches named for famous explorers. This model was named for Dr. David Livingstone (1813 to 1873), the famous Scottish missionary and African explorer, who was presumed lost and dead in the heart of the African continent until he was "found" by a rescue expedition led by the noted American reporter Henry Morton Stanley, who also had a Hamilton watch named for him. It was priced at $65.00 in 1933 and only 685 were made in yellow. This example is in very good condition showing some brassing to the bezel and lugs. Caseback is good and unengraved, with some wear in the corners. The case measures 38mm long by 23mm wide. Refinished dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 19-jewel Hamilton grade 401 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
