Very scarce Elgin “Model 1656” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 10K white gold fill, circa 1935.
This elaborate stepped and flared design was catalogued only in 1935, priced at $37.50. It is a very scarce in white and difficult to find without heavy wear. This example is in excellent condition with only a few tiny specks of brassing to the highpoints of the bezel and lugs. Caseback is superb, with a fantastic Art Deco monogram. The case measures 40mm long and 27mm wide. Original dial is very good, with some light spotting. Embossed numerals have developed a beautiful blue and violet patina. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Elgin grade 489 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
