Very scarce Elgin “Aztec” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel, circa 1931.

Elgin catalogued this watch as the “Senior 952” but its fantastic geometric black-inlaid bezel designs reminiscent of the carvings on ancient Aztec temples in Mexico has inspired most collectors to call it the “Aztec.” It is a very difficult watch to find and is among the most desirable of all Art Deco Elgin wristwatches. This example is in crisp, near mint condition with no wear and no pitting to the chromium plating. The caseback is excellent and unengraved, with no pitting. The case measures 35mm long and 25mm wide. Original factory new-old-stock dial is perfect. Glass crystal is excellent. I have upgraded the original 7-jewel movement to the more reliable 15-jewel Elgin grade 484 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
