Very scarce Elgin “Aztec” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel, circa 1931.

Elgin catalogued this watch as the “Senior 952” but its fantastic geometric black-inlaid bezel designs reminiscent of the carvings on ancient temples in Mexico has inspired most collectors to call it the “Aztec.” It is a very difficult watch to find and is among the most desirable of all Art Deco Elgin wristwatches. This example is in excellent condition showing only light wear to the chrome-plated bezel. The caseback is good, with a monogram and some moderate scratches and pitting. The case measures 35mm long and 25mm wide. Original dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 7-jewel Elgin grade 488 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
