Very rare Hamilton “Liberty Coin” men’s Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1969.
The “Liberty Coin” was the last completely American-made wristwatch produced by Hamilton; Hamilton ceased domestic movement production in its Lancaster, Pennsylvania factory that same year. Serial numbers of the known surviving examples suggest that no more than 400 were produced in solid gold, making it a very rare model. This is the first example I have offered in nearly 8 years. The die-struck dial is made to resemble a United States Liberty Head $20 gold piece and the edge of the case is reeded like the edge of a coin. This example is in excellent condition with a very crisp case. Caseback is superb and unengraved, with one small dent. Case measures 41mm long and 33mm wide. Original two-tone gilt cameo finish dial is superb. Has new acrylic crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 22-jewel Hamilton grade 770 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
