Benrus “Engraved Tonneau” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium plate, circa 1929.
This spectacular Benrus has ornately engraved articulated lugs. Benrus named many of its watches after famous sports figures in the 1920s such as Babe Ruth and Gene Tunney, but I don't know the name of this fully-signed, factory-cased model. I have been unable to find a period Benrus advertisement which identifies it. It is in crisp, near mint condition showing virtually no wear. The case still retains its brushed and polished finishes. Articulated lugs are nice and tight with no looseness. Hinged caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 40mm long and 26mm wide. Refinished luminous dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 6-jewel Benrus manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
