Very Rare Elgin “Model 1659” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1935.

This case design is usually only seen in gold fill, but it was also available in solid gold for one year only (1935), priced at $75.00. It contained Elgin’s last and finest 6/0-size movement, the 19-jewel grade 499. It is quite rare, with this example being only the fourth one I have ever seen. It has a dramatically flared and stepped case. It is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Caseback is superb and unengraved, with a few very faint dings. The case measures 40mm long and 27mm wide. Original new old stock two-tone gilt dial is perfect, has gold embossed numerals. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 19-jewel Elgin grade 499 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $675. SOLD
