Rare Longines “Platinum Jubilee” men’s Retro Modern design presentation wristwatch in solid platinum with Longines strap, buckle, and box, circa 1950.

Longines offered this model in platinum, palladium, and 14K gold. The model was cased by Longines' American distributor, Kaspar & Esh of New York City and is a advertised, Longines-signed, genuine factory-cased watch, not an aftermarket jeweler-cased watch. This example was presented to millionaire Pittsburgh industrialist and art collector G. David Thompson by Allegheny County judges Samuel A. Weiss and Henry X. O'Brien at Christmas 1950. It is in crisp, near mint condition showing almost no wear, with all of its satin and polished finishes. Caseback is superb, with an elaborate presentation engraving. The case measures 40mm long and 21mm wide. Refinished dial is superb, has 17 genuine, high-quality diamonds set in white gold mountings. Has new, correct glass domed crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Longines grade 9L manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. Longines box, strap, and buckle are excellent.
