Elgin “World War II Model” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 10K rose gold fill, circa 1942.

This uncatalogued model has yet to be identified from existing Elgin literature and documents, but is a properly marked, factory-cased model. I have only seen about 10 of these, and one of the other known examples carries a presentation date from 1944, so it may be that Elgin cased some then-obsolete 18/0-size movements from the 1930s to circumvent wartime restrictions on new watch production for consumers, similar to what Hamilton did with its “Cushion B” model during the war. This example is in excellent condition with only a few specks of brassing to the bezel corners. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 37mm long and 25mm wide. Original dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Elgin grade 483 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
