Hamilton “Sentinel” men’s Modern design wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill, circa 1942.
The “Sentinel” first appeared in October of 1940 and with its second-setting (hack-setting) feature, was marketed to doctors, radio technicians, and laboratory and research engineers. It was priced at $42.50 in 1942. Most often seen with a gold numeral or Roman numeral dial, the black Arabic numeral dial is fairly scarce. This example is in excellent condition with only very light brassing to the bezel. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a minute touch of wear to the opening tab, and one tiny ding. The case measures 36mm long and 29mm wide. Original dial is very good, showing some light patina from age. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987S manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
