Rare Longines “Presentation” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid palladium, circa 1944.

This smaller-sized watch has a dial set with 11 genuine dials and a case made of solid palladium. Longines was one of the few watch manufacturers to offer a watch cased in palladium, a rare and lustrous silvery-white noble metal in the platinum family which doesn‘t tarnish or corrode. The case was made by the jewelry firm of Kaspar & Esh of New York City. Kaspar & Esh had the exclusive distribution rights for Longines in the United States. It imported the Longines movements under license from Switzerland and then designed and manufactured the cases, and then assembled and sold the completed watches. Most of the Kaspar & Esh case designs are unique to the Longines models sold in the U.S. This is a catalogued, Longines-signed, genuine factory-cased watch, not an aftermarket jeweler-cased watch. It is a rare model and this is the only example I have ever offered. It is in excellent condition showing only very light wear and some very minor marks to the palladium case. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 31mm long and 22mm wide. Refinished dial is superb and has 3 baguette and 8 round diamonds set in white gold at each hour marker. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Longines grade 8LN manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
