Uncommon Hamilton Square men's Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1926.
For a few months in late 1926 and early 1927, Hamilton offered its first generation "Square" with the new 987 movement with the sub-seconds at the 6 o'clock position, which replaced the 986A movement previously used in the "Square" model. Hamilton had the inner casebacks stamped with "987" so factory assemblers would match the correct movement to these cases. It is much less common than the later "Square" model and only 4,488 were produced. This example is in excellent condition with just a tiny amount of brassing in the bezel corners. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 35mm long and 28mm wide. Refinished dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987 movement, just serviced and running strong.
