Scarce Elgin “American Efficiency 459" men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1929.

The “American Efficiency 459” has a barrel-shaped case with a bezel punctuated by incuse lines in each corner, inlaid with black highlighting. It was priced to consumers at $42.00 in 1929. This example is in crisp, near mint condition showing no brassing, just some faint scratches. The bezel and caseback retain all of their polished and brushed finishes. Caseback is superb and unengraved. Case measures 37mm long and 30mm wide. Refinished dial is superb, and has embossed gold numerals, and luminous hands and dots at each hour marker. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct Elgin 17-jewel grade 487 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
