Scarce Longines “Diamond Dial” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid palladium, circa 1944.

Longines offered this model in platinum, palladium, and 14K yellow or white gold. Longines was one of the few watch manufacturers to offer a watch cased in palladium, a rare and lustrous silvery-white noble metal in the platinum family which doesn‘t tarnish or corrode. Palladium is rare and more valuable than gold and platinum. The case was made by the boutique jewelry firm of Kaspar & Esh of New York City, specifically for Longines. This is a catalogued, Longines-signed, genuine factory-cased watch, not an aftermarket jeweler-cased watch. It is in crisp, excellent condition showing only very light wear and some very minor marks to the palladium case. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 40mm long and 21mm wide. Refinished dial has 17 diamonds and is excellent. Domed acrylic crystal is excellent. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Longines grade 9L manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
