Extremely rare Hamilton “Cambridge Diamond Dial” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in solid platinum, circa 1951.
The “Cambridge” is a rare watch and described in the Hamilton catalog as the “...distinctive mark of a man who is free to choose as he will.” It is shown in the catalog with an applied numeral dial, but as an extra option with either a three-diamond dial or an eleven-diamond dial for an additional charge. The eleven-diamond version was priced at an exorbitant$530.00 in 1951 and was one of the most expensive men's wristwatches that Hamilton ever offered. It is extremely rare and this is the only one I have ever seen. This example is in excellent condition showing only very light wear and a few light marks. Caseback is superb and unengraved. Inlaid enamel dial is very good, and set with eleven genuine, high-quality diamonds. Dial shows some light patina and spotting. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 19-jewel Hamilton grade 982M manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
