Scarce Elgin “Legionnaire 421” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in two-tone 14K green gold fill and chromium nickel with black enamel bezel, circa 1929.

The “Legionnaire 421" has a two-tone case with exploding Roman numerals set in black enamel. It is one the classic Art Deco design Elgin models and is highly desirable today. It was priced to consumers at $24.00 in 1929. This example is in excellent condition with no wear to the chromium bezel, and just a little brassing to the tips of the lugs. Black enamel is superb and complete. Caseback is excellent and unengraved with no pitting. The case measures 39mm long and 31mm wide. Refinished dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 7-jewel Elgin grade 485 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
