Bulova "Academy Award W" men's Retro Modern design wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill, circa 1950.

In the late 1940s, Bulova and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences entered into a licensing agreement which allowed Bulova to market "Academy Award" watches and use the Oscar statuette in its advertising. This example has a striking gold curtain-patterned dial with white-outlined numerals and black-outlined pyramid markers. It is in excellent condition with a few specks of brassing to the edges of the lugs. Caseback is good and unengraved with some light wear along the edges and some very tiny dings. Case measures 37mm long and 22mm wide. Original dial is very good, with some faint spotting. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Bulova grade 7AK movement, just serviced and running strong.
