Rare Illinois "Chatham" men's Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill, circa 1934.
The "Chatham" was in the last group of Illinois wristwatches produced by Hamilton and was introduced in 1934. The Illinois factory in Springfield had closed the previous year and Hamilton had moved all Illinois watch production to Hamilton's factory in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The "Chatham" was priced at $35.00 in 1934 and is very rare. Fewer than 20 are known to exist and this is the only example I have ever offered. It is in fair condition with some significant brassing to the bezel and moderate brassing to the lugs. Caseback is fair and unengraved, with wear in the corners and along the edges. Case measures 38mm long and 27mm wide. Etched dial is fair, with some significant patina and print loss. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Illinois grade 605 movement, just serviced and running strong.
