Rare Gruen “Longacre” men’s Machine Age design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1932.

Gruen aficionados believe the “Longacre” was named for prominent Cincinnati physician Dr. Jacob James Longacre (1907 to 1976), who married Fred Gruen’s daughter, Margaret (pictured below in a portrait by Bessie Hoover). It was priced at $100.00 in 1932 and was powered by the rare 21-jewel grade 3251 Quadron movement, Gruen’s first 21-jewel wristwatch movement. It is a rare Gruen model and this is only the second example I have ever offered. It is in excellent condition showing only light wear and some light marks. Curved caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 38mm long and 22mm wide. Original dial is superb, has gold embossed numerals. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Gruen grade 3251 Quadron manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $925. SOLD
