Scarce Elgin “Enamel Thrift 440” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel with black enamel bezel, circa 1931.

The “440” was part of the less-expensive “Thrift” series of watches, and was priced at $24.75 in 1931. It is quite scarce and difficult to find without damaged enamel. This example is in very good condition showing only very light wear and faint pitting to the chromium plating. Black enamel is excellent and complete with only some very tiny nicks. Caseback is fair, with some pitting. The case measures 38mm long and 31mm wide. Factory original new old stock dial is perfect. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 7-jewel Elgin grade 485 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $375. SOLD
