Scarce Elgin “Oval” men's Art Deco design wristwatch in14K white gold fill, circa 1929.

Normally found with a luminous numeral dial, this model is very scarce with the black numeral dial. This is only the fourth of fifth example I have seen of this dial. This watch was catalogued as the "Model 664" but most Elgin collectors refer to it as the "Oval" because of its remarkable resemblance to the Hamilton "Oval." Both were made by the Fahys Watch Case Co. It was priced at $48.00 in 1929. The example is in crisp, near mint excellent condition with no brassing or wear. Center casebody still has all of its original matte finish. Bezel retains all of its original black inlay. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, wtih some faint scratches and most of its original vertical brushed finish. Case measures 37mm long and 28mm wide. Original dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Elgin grade 428 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $400.
