Rare Abra “Jump Hour" men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel, circa 1930.

Watches with digital time displays first appeared in the late 1920s with several companies offering models such as this one. This Abra has cutouts in the bezel to display the hours, minutes, and seconds. The minutes and seconds rotate continuously, with the hour numeral ingeniously remaining stationary until it jumps at the top of each hour. This is a rare larger model and I have only seen a few. It is in excellent condition with no wear to the chromium plating, and showing all of its original brushed and polished finishes. Blue inlaid design has been restored. Caseback is very good and unengraved, with some pitting. Case measures 40mm long and 26mm wide. Original dial disks are excellent. Has new acrylic crystal. Watch is powered by its correct 7-jewel Abra special jump hour manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
