Very scarce Longines "Doctor's Watch" men's Modern design wristwatch in sterling silver, circa 1926.

This smaller-sized watch has a center sweep seconds making it ideal for use by physicians and other persons in technical fields requiring precise timing. The Longines archives in Switzerland show that this watch was produced as a complete, factory-cased watch in Switzerland and invoiced to the Albert Wittnauer Company in New York on March 24, 1926. Wittnauer was Longines' sales agent for the United States and imported complete watches (as well as movements) for sale here in America. This example is in excellent condition showing only light wear. The sterling silver case has a pleasing patina. Caseback is excellent, with a physician's name engraved. The case measures 36mm long and 28mm wide. Original inlaid enamel dial is very good. Hands have restored luminous tinted to match the numerals on the dial. Glass crystal is superb. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Longines grade 11.62N manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. Has vintage grey pigskin 9/16" strap.
