Elgin Model 497

Scarce Elgin “Model 497” men’s Machine Age design wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1934.

The "Model 497" has a sharply-angled Machine Age design 6-sided case with ribs above and below the dial. It was priced at $37.50 in 1934. It is a scarce model and this is only the second example I have ever offered. It is in crisp, near mint condition with no brassing. Caseback is superb, with a monogram. Case measures 38mm long and 30mm wide. Factory-original new-old-stock dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. Watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Elgin grade 487 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $425. SOLD
