Scarce Hamilton “Tonneau Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K green gold fill, circa 1928.
With its large distinctive case, the “Tonneau Engraved” is one of the classic Hamilton designs from the 1920s. It was priced to consumers at $57.00 in 1928. Only 5,608 were produced in green gold fill. This example is in crisp, excellent condition with no brassing. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The unpolished case has a pleasing lemony-gold patina. Case measures 34mm long and 27mm wide. Original two-tone dial is very good with a few faint marks, has new luminous. Has new glass crystal. Has original green gold-filled winding crown. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
