Uncommon Lord Elgin “Model 4531” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1952.
In the late 1940s and early 1950s Elgin offered many different models of men's wristwatches in solid gold. Most were cataloged for only a year or two, and none seem to have been made in great numbers. The “Model 4531” was priced at $115.00 in 1952 and this is only the second example I have offered. It is in excellent condition showing only very slight wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 37mm long and 23mm wide. Original dial is superb, has solid 18K gold applied numerals and embossed markers. Has new domed glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 670 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
