Very scarce Elgin “Mermaid” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1929.

Catalogued as the “Touchdown 202” in Elgin sales material, watch collectors refer to this watch as the “Mermaid” because of the fantastic mermaids and seahorses engraved on the bezel. It was priced at $37.50 in 1929. One the classic Elgin rarities, it is a must-have for any serious American Art Deco watch collection. This example is in excellent condition with just a few specks of brassing in the bezel corners. Mermaid and seahorse designs are complete. Caseback is excellent and unengraved.
