Rare Lord Elgin “Model 4501” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid platinum, circa 1947.

The “Model 4501” is one of only three men's wristwatch models that Elgin made in platinum. Priced at $225.00 in 1947, it is quite rare, and this is one of only a four that I have ever offered for sale. It is much rarer than its Hamilton contemporary, the “Rutledge.” It is a genuine Elgin factory-cased platinum model, not an aftermarket jeweler-cased watch. It has a rectangular case with faceted, hooded lugs. This example is in excellent condition showing only light wear, and a few light marks. Case still shows all of its brushed and polished finishes. The case measures 36mm long and 20mm wide. Original dial is excellent, has solid gold applied markers. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 559 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $1,500.
