Lord Elgin Model 4522

Scarce Lord Elgin “Model 4522” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1950.

In the late 1940s and early 1950s Elgin offered many different models of men's wristwatches in solid gold. Most were cataloged for only a year or two, and none seem to have been made in great numbers. The “Model 4522” has a large rectangular case with angled lugs and was priced at $130.00 in 1950. This example is in crisp, excellent condition showing only very slight wear. Caseback is superb and unengraved, with some of its factory-applied brushed finish. Case measures 39mm long and 24mm wide. Original bright silver finish dial is superb, has solid gold applied numerals and markers. Glass crystal is excellent. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 626 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
