Rare Elgin "States 671" men's Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1932.
The "States 671" was originally introduced around 1930 as part of Elgin's "Lugless" series which had an awkward sliding pin that allowed the strap to be attached inside each end of the case for a smooth, seamless appearance. Around 1932, Elgin replaced that troublesome arrangement and offered this re-designed case with conventional lugs. It is a rare model and this is only the third example I have ever offered. It is in excellent condition showing only few specks of brassing to the bezel corners. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a few specks of wear in the corners. The case measures 39mm long and 27mm wide. Glass crystal is excellent. Older refinished dial is excellent, has unusual silver inlaid numerals and luminous dots. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Elgin grade 428 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. Has original stepped crown.
