Hamilton “Grant” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill, circa 1933.

Named for Civil War Union General Ulysess S. Grant, the “Grant” was introduced in the fall of 1933, priced at $47.50. This was Hamilton's first men's wristwatch model sold in 10K gold fill. This example has the earliest case, made by the Solidarity Watch Case Co. which ceased operations shortly afterward, a victim of the Great Depression. Subsequent "Grant" cases were produced by the Wadsworth Case Co. This example is in excellent condition with only a few specks of brassing. Caseback is superb and unengraved, with most of its original factory-applied brushed finish intact. Case measures 36mm long and 28mm wide. Original linen-textured dial is very good, has solid 18K gold applied numerals. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987-F manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $400.
