Rare Lord Elgin "Celestial Clouds and Stars" men's Mid-Century Modern design wristwatch in 14K yellow gold fill, circa 1955.

This Lord Elgin "Celestial" model has the 12 Zodiac signs set in hard black enamel and a spectacular gray waffle dial with gilt clouds and stars designs. Usually seen with the embossed sun-ray design dial, the "Clouds and Stars" dial is quite rare... this is only the second example I have offered in 25 years. It is in excellent condition with just a few minute specks of brassing to the lugs. Black enamel is excellent, with a small enamel repair between Aquarius and Pisces. Case measures 41mm long and 32mm wide. Factory-original gray waffle-texture "Clouds and Stars" dial is spectacular. Glass crystal is excellent. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel Elgin grade 680 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
