Rare Hamilton “Barrel Engraved” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1928.

Referred to as "New Barrel Engraved" in Hamilton internal documents, this is the second variety of "Barrel" and was introduced in 1927 with the flared center casebody, made by the Fahys Watch Case Company. This is a transitional version and has the earliest caseback imprint marked "987" and with the Hamilton Watch Company crest. This imprint was used for only a short time, until replaced by the Fahys imprint for the remainder of production. It is quite rare and this is only the third example I have ever offered. It is in excellent condition with very light brassing to the bezel and lugs. Caseback is excellent with a 1928 Christmas presentation engraving and a few specks of wear in the corners. Case measures 35mm long and 29mm wide. Refinished Gothic numeral dial is excellent. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987 movement, just serviced and running strong.
