Very rare Movado "Tonneau" men's Machine Age design wristwatch in solid 18K white gold, circa 1932.
While Movado is a seemingly ubiquitous brand in today's retail watch market, its early watches from the 1920s and 1930s are quite scarce. This rare large, heavy tonneau-shaped model has a fluted bezel and angled lugs. This is the only example I have ever seen of this Movado design, it is very rare. It is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Curved caseback is excellent and unengraved. Hinge pin is broken, but the caseback snaps shut tightly. Case measures 42mm long and 25mm wide. Dial is very good, showing some patina from age. Has gold embossed fancy numerals. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Movado grade 150MN manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
Price $900. SOLD
