Very rare Hamilton "Enamel Square" men's Art Deco design wristwatch in 14K green gold fill with black enamel and original box, circa 1926.
Hamilton introduced the enamel bezel "Square" model in May of 1926, priced at $58.00. The watch was sold only through early 1927 and a mere 506 were produced. And an unknown quantity of those were sold with a special dial which had a sub-seconds register at 9 o'clock. A factory original 986A dial with sub-seconds is very rare, this is one of only two or three I have ever offered. This example is in excellent condition with very light brassing to the bezel corners and moderate brassing to the tips of the lugs. The caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 35mm long and 28mm wide. Factory original dial is excellent. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 986A manual wind movement with special fourth wheel accommodating the seconds hand, just serviced and running strong. Crown is yellow gold fill.
Price $1,650. SOLD
