Rare Elgin “Model 1636” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in solid 14K white gold, circa 1932.

This "Model 1636" has the same case as the earlier "Model 1601" but with a higher-grade movement and an inlaid enamel dial. It contains Elgin’s last and finest 6/0-size movement, the 19-jewel grade 499, of which only 5,000 were produced and placed in only a few case designs. It also has a unique inlaid enamel two-tone dial, one of the very few such dials produced by Elgin. It was priced at $65.00 in 1932 and is quite rare, this is the only example I have ever offered for sale. It is in excellent condition showing only very slight wear. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a few tiny dings. Case measures 34mm long and 27mm wide. Original two-tone inlaid enamel dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 19-jewel Elgin grade 499 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $775. SOLD
