Very rare Hamilton “Liberty Coin” men’s Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1969.
The “Liberty Coin” was among the last completely American-made wristwatches produced by Hamilton; Hamilton ceased domestic movement production in its Lancaster, Pennsylvania factory that same year. Serial numbers of the known surviving examples suggest that no more than 500 were produced in solid gold, making it a very rare model. This is the first example I have offered in many years. The die-struck dial is made to resemble a United States Liberty Head $20 double eagle gold coin, and the edge of the case is reeded like the edge of a coin. This example is in excellent condition with a crisp case. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 41mm long and 33mm wide. Original dial is superb, has a two-tone frosted and polished reverse cameo finish. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 22-jewel Hamilton grade 770 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
Price $1,200. SOLD
