Scarce Hamilton “Martin” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in 10K coral gold fill with original box, circa 1941.

Hamilton introduced pink gold watches in late 1939, calling them “coral gold” watches. Offered only in a handful of models in gold-fill and solid gold, the watches were available for only a few years. The "Martin" was in the last group of watches introduced in coral and appears only in the 1941 catalog, priced at $40.00. Only 6,111 were produced. This example has its original plastic box with the reddish-brown lining, which was used only for the coral watches. This example is in excellent condition with only a few tiny specks of brassing. Caseback is excellent, with some dings and scratches. The case measures 35mm long and 27mm wide. Original coral finish dial is very good, with some patina, and has solid 18K gold rhodium-plated numerals. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987A manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. Original box is excellent, has metal legs underneath that allow the box to be tilted up for display.

Price $450. SOLD
