Rare Elgin “1600 Series” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 10K white gold fill, circa 1935.

This unusual model has not been identified from known Elgin literature, but it is likely part of Elgin's 1600 series of men's watches housing 6/0-size movements. This model contains Elgin’s last and finest 6/0-size movement, the 19-jewel grade 499, of which only 5,000 were produced and placed in only a few case designs. This case design was likely produced around 1935 to use up remaining 499 movements. It is rare and this is the only example I have ever offered. It is excellent condition with only a few tiny specks of brassing. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 37mm long and 27mm wide. Original dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 19-jewel Elgin grade 499 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
