Very scarce Hamilton “Ellsworth” men’s Streamlined Moderne design wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill, circa 1935.
The “Ellsworth” was named for the famous Amazon and Polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth (1880 to 1951) and was catalogued only in 1935. Despite being attractively priced at only $37.50 in 1935, it was apparently not a very popular model as indicated by its extremely low production of just 1,089 watches with the two-tone dial. This example is in crisp, excellent condition with only a few specks of brassing to the lug mounts. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. Case measures 41mm long and 28mm wide. Original two-tone dial is superb. Glass crystal is superb. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Hamilton grade 987-E manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
Price $500.
