Scarce Elgin “Graduation Model 1403” men’s Streamline Moderne design wristwatch in 14K white gold fill, circa 1933.

This model was part of an uncatalogued series introduced in April of 1933 and designed to appeal to upcoming graduates. Elgin's announcement for the watches indicated that production of these models was limited, and that they featured gilt-finished movements. All are scarce and this is only the second example I've had of this model. This one was priced at $25.00 in 1933. It is in excellent condition showing only a touch of brassing to the lugs. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a few light marks. Case measures 37mm long and 30mm wide. Embossed gold numeral dial is very good, with some patina and light marks. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct special gilt-finished 17-jewel Elgin grade 487 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $200. SOLD
