Gruen Pan American Ace
Gruen "Pan American Ace" men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in 10K pink gold fill and steel, circa 1946.
The Gruen "Pan American" models were originally produced in 1943 exclusively for Pan American Airways pilots during World War II. The watches were released for public sale on October 1, 1945 and by that time were being advertised as the official watch of Pan American Airways. The "Ace" was priced at $39.75" in 1946. This example is in excellent condition with no brassing to the gold-filled lugs. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 39mm long and 32mm wide. Original two-tone 24-hour dial is excellent, with some slight spotting. Has new acrylic crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Gruen grade 420SS manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
