Illinois Metropolitan

Rare Illinois "Metropolitan" men's Art Deco design wristwatch in two-tone 14K white and yellow gold fill, circa 1932.

The "Metropolitan" is one of the rarest Illinois wristwatch models and is seldom offered for sale. It has a two-tone case with a white bezel featuring 12 grooves inlaid with yellow gold. It was priced at $40.00 in 1932. This example is in crisp, excellent condition with no brassing. All 12 bezel grooves still retain their yellow gold inlay. Caseback is superb, with a monogram. Case measures 35mm long and 29mm wide. Original sparkle finish dial has black printed numerals and is excellent. Glass crystal is superb. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Illinois grade 605 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.

Price $1,400. SOLD
