Gruen "Pan American Eagle" men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in two-tone 10K yellow and white gold fill with stainless steel caseback, circa 1949.

The Gruen “Pan American” was originally produced starting in 1943 exclusively for Pan American Airways pilots during World War II. The “Pan American” watches were released for public sale beginning on October 1, 1945 and by that time were being advertised as the official watch of Pan American World Airways. This example is in excellent condition with only a few tiny specks of brassing to the lugs. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with a few tiny dings. The case measures 38mm long and 33mm wide. Two-tone gray and silver 24-hour dial is excellent, with some light marks. Has new acrylic crystal. This watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Gruen grade 420SS manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. Has original Gruen signed white gold-filled crown.
