Rare Lord Elgin "Corsican" men's Art Deco presentation pocket watch in solid 14K white gold, circa 1924.
Along with the "C.H. Hulburd" models, the "Corsican" was Elgin's top-of-the-line watch and housed a unique, extra-thin 12-size movement. All of the "Hulburd" and "Corsican" models were cased in solid gold or platinum. The "Corsican" line was named for French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, and the bow and hands are shaped in the silhouette of Napoleon's famous campaign hat, and the watches were advertised as such by Elgin. This example is in excellent condition showing only light wear. Inner cuvette has a presentation engraving to Edward R. Crary from the Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania Community Welfare Federation. Original guilloche engraved dial is very good. Original gilt hands bear the unique Napoleon silhouette at the ends, and show some minor corrosion. The watch is powered by its correct 21-jewel ultra-thin Lord Elgin grade 450 movement, just serviced and running strong.
Price $950.
