Gruen Curvex 879 14K
Scarce Gruen “Curvex 879” men’s Retro Modern design wristwatch in solid 14K yellow gold, circa 1953.
This watch was among the last "Curvex" models introduced by Gruen in the 1950s, and remains unidentified as no literature has surfaced which shows its actual model name. It is a very scarce model and this is the only example I have ever offered for sale. It is in crisp, excellent condition showing only very light wear. The beveled edges of the case are still distinct and well-defined. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 39mm long and 23mm wide. Refinished two-tone dial is excellent, has solid gold applied markers and numerals. Acrylic crystal is excellent. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Gruen grade 370 Curvametric manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
