Very scarce Elgin “Basket Weave” men’s Machine Age design wristwatch in stainless steel, circa 1935.
This elusive Elgin model has an unsigned case made by the Wadsworth Case Co., but it appears in a 1935 wholesaler catalog described as cased and timed at the Elgin factory. It was priced at $29.50 in 1935. It is in crisp, excellent condition showing only light wear. The case retains all of its alternating frosted and polished finishes. Caseback is excellent and unengraved, with one tiny ding. Case measures 39mm long and 21mm wide. Factory-original new-old-stock dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch has a 15-jewel Elgin grade 484 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
Price $450. SOLD
