Rare Gruen “Curvex Ristside Falcon” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in 10K yellow gold fill with original Kreisler bracelet, circa 1950.

Scarce and highly desirable, the "Ristside Falcon" is one of Gruen's most dramatic Curvex models. With a leather strap, Gruen's name for the watch was the "Falcon." With the metal bracelet, it was the "Fraternity." The large stepped and hinged lugs prompt many collectors to refer to as the "Eagle" or "Bat Wing" watch. The hinged lugs allow the watch to be worn comfortably in the conventional manner on top of the wrist, or as a driver's watch on the side of the wrist... hence the name "Ristside." It is quite rare with its original Kreisler bracelet and was priced at $71.50 in 1950. This is the nicest example I have ever offered and is in crisp, near mint condition with no brassing. Deeply curved caseback is superb and unengraved, with a small very faint line of wear. Hinged lugs are superb. Case measures 47mm long and 24mm wide. Original silver finish dial is superb, has gold embossed numerals and markers. Original glass crystal is superb. The watch is powered by its correct 17-jewel Gruen grade 440 Precision Curvex manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong. Original Kreisler bracelet is superb. I will include the new black leather strap as pictured, if desired.

Price $1,350. SOLD
