Very scarce Elgin “Thrift 433” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in chromium nickel with black enamel bezel, circa 1931.

The “433" was part of the less-expensive “Thrift” series of watches, and is considered as one of the classic Art Deco Elgin designs of all time, and highly desirable today. The rarest of the enamel “Thrift” watches, it has a cushion-shaped case with numerals set in four black enamel panels around the dial. It was priced to consumers at $22.50 in 1931. This example is in crisp, near mint condition with no wear or corrosion to the chromium nickel case. The case has all of its brushed and polished finishes. Black enamel is superb and complete. This is the nicest example I have ever offered. Caseback is superb and unengraved. The case measures 34mm long and 30mm wide. Original dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. Usually found with a 7-jewel movement, this example is powered by a 17-jewel Elgin grade 487 manual wind movement serviced a few years ago and still running strong.

Price $675. SOLD
