Very rare Elgin “Model 215” men’s Art Deco design wristwatch in solid 14K green gold with blue enamel bezel, circa 1928.
In 1928, Elgin introduced two solid gold men’s wristwatch models with hinged lugs and blue enamel Roman numeral bezels, priced to consumers at $95.00. They are far rarer than the corresponding Hamilton enamel models and are seldom offered for sale. This version in solid green gold is among the rarest of all Elgin wristwatches and this is only the second example I have offered in 25 years. It is in excellent condition showing only very light wear. Blue enamel is superb, with no chips or scratches. Hinged lugs are excellent. Caseback is excellent and unengraved. The case measures 40mm long and 26mm wide. Refinished two-tone dial is superb. Has new glass crystal. The watch is powered by its correct 15-jewel Elgin grade 444 manual wind movement, just serviced and running strong.
Price $3,850. SOLD
